Sunday 20th November saw the band take to the stage at the annual Gloucestershire Brass Band Association contest. The contest is judged on two performances the first being a march and the second an own choice test piece.  Forest of Dean brass chose the popular T J Powell march The Bombardier and for the test piece it was the pen of Peter Graham that provided Symphonic Study No.2 Prisms.

Both performances were well received by the audience but it was all down to the days adjudicator, David Thornton, to award the prizes from which we were delighted to have been given 1st place in both categories.

As an additional bonus Craig Wintle our principle cornet player was awarded the Best Soloist  Prize, Best Cornet Player, and Best Instrumentalist of the day.

Musical director Chris Howley was delighted with the performances and has said this puts the band in the right frame of mind for next years upcoming regional contest.
